November 2007 - TBE customer Dave Webb returned to WA last week having successfully completed the notorious 10 day Crocodile Trophy mountain bike race in Queensland’s far north.

The race billed as ‘The toughest mountain bike race in the world’ is run over nearly 1400km of dust, corrugations, soft sand, rock and some very fast technical downhill and extreme uphill sections.

Temperatures during the race reached a record 52C this year, which in addition to the terrain turned the race into a personal physical and mental challenge for many of the riders.

The race won by World Cup champion Mauro Bettin from Italy attracted a field of 83 Professional and Amateur riders from 18 countries. Battling the physical discomfort associated with hours spent each day in a saddle Dave finished the event in Cape Tribulation proudly sporting TBE colours.

#“The assistance I have received from everyone at the Nedland’s TBE shop in the run-up to this event was absolutely amazing” says Dave. “This is my first year on a mountain bike and so I’ve had to go through a very steep learning curve which has been made all the more easy by the advice and help received from Ben, Rupert and the rest of the crew in Nedlands”.

Dave is now planning his race calendar for 2008.

“I’m definitely looking for more endurance/adventure racing” says Dave. “There’s a race across the Pyrenees, one across the Sahara desert, one across the Simpson Desert and, there’s also one in South America that I’m interested in. First though, I think I’ll take a couple of weeks off to relax before making any decisions” he says.
